About MY Case Law

Free access to Malaysian case law, organised so that a judgment can be found by the court that decided it, the counsel who argued it, or the area of law it turns on.

What this is

MY Case Law is a free, searchable database of written judgments of the Malaysian courts, published as they were released through the Malaysian Judiciary (Kehakiman Malaysia). On top of that record the site builds an index: pages for the courts, for the judges who wrote the judgments, for the advocates and solicitors and law firms that appear in them, and for the areas of law they concern. The point of the index is that a written judgment is hard to find unless you already know its citation, and most people looking for one do not.

Nothing on the site is behind a login or a paywall. There is no account to create and no user database to be in.

Who publishes it

MY Case Law is an independent project. It is not affiliated with the Malaysian Judiciary (Kehakiman Malaysia), with any court, with any government department, or with any law firm or professional body named anywhere on the site.

Pages are published under organisational authorship — the MY Case Law editorial team — rather than under the name of an individual. That is a deliberate choice, and it is worth being plain about what it means: it is not a claim to an editorial board, a staff of researchers, or professional credentials. It means the site does not put a named person's authority behind a page when the substance of that page comes from the judgment it cites. What can be checked is the source, and every page is built to make the source reachable.

The site is built with AI assistance. We disclose that here rather than leave it to be inferred, and the full disclosure — what is derived mechanically from the record, what is drafted, and what is deliberately held back — is set out in our methodology.

Where the data comes from

Judgments come from eJudgment, the Malaysian Judiciary's judgment portal, and statutory references point to Malaysian Legislation at lom.agc.gov.my. Both are the primary sources; where this site and a primary source disagree, the primary source is right and we want to hear about it.

The collection is not the whole of Malaysian law and does not pretend to be. It covers written judgments released through that portal from the mid-2010s onward, which means older authorities and unreported decisions are absent, and a case decided without a written judgment never appears at all. Coverage is also uneven by court and by area of law, because release practice is. The disclaimer sets out the limits of the dataset in full.

What this site does not do

• It does not give legal advice, and it is not a substitute for consulting an advocate and solicitor. Nothing here is written about anyone's particular situation, because nothing here knows what that situation is.
• It does not build pages about individuals named as parties. Those entities are permanently excluded from indexing and from every sitemap, at every case count and at every stage of the site's rollout. The reasoning is set out on our privacy page.
• It does not rank or score the people named in judgments. There are no win rates, no success rates and no head-to-head comparisons of counsel. Counting outcomes across a set of judgments would say more about which cases were fought than about who argued them.
• It does not republish judgments as its own. Judgment text belongs to the record; the site's contribution is the index over it and the link back to the source.

How it is funded

The site is free to read and is intended to be supported by advertising. No one pays to appear on it, to appear higher on it, or to be left off it — there is no sponsored placement of any kind, and what appears on an entity page is determined by the judgments, not by any commercial arrangement. Corrections and getting in touch

A site compiled from thousands of documents will contain errors, and the useful thing to do about that is to make them easy to report rather than to claim there are none.
