Using this site means accepting these terms. They are short, and written in plain English rather than in the register of a contract nobody reads.

What this site is for

MY Case Law is a free reference database of Malaysian court judgments, together with structured data and plain-English explanatory material built from them. It exists for research and general information. It is not legal advice, it is not a substitute for a qualified advocate and solicitor, and using it creates no advocate–client relationship. Our disclaimer states that in full and forms part of these terms.

Permitted use

You may read, search, link to and quote from this site freely, with attribution where you republish our explanatory material. You may not present this site's pages as an official record of any Malaysian court, hold our content out as legal advice, scrape the site at volumes that degrade it for other readers, or use anything obtained here to assemble profiles of the individuals named as parties in judgments. That last one is not a formality: it is the same commitment our privacy policy makes about what we ourselves will not build.

Judgments, attribution and our compilation

The judgments are the work of the Malaysian courts. They are published by the Malaysian Judiciary (Kehakiman Malaysia) through eJudgment, its official judgment portal, and MY Case Law claims no rights of any kind over them. Our practice is to attribute every judgment to that source and to link back to it, so that the authoritative version is always one click away.

These terms do not characterise eJudgment's own terms of use, and nothing on this page should be read as a statement that republication of material sourced from it is licensed, permitted or unrestricted. We describe what we do — attribute, link back, and act on requests from the source operator — rather than assert a legal position we have not established. Where the terms of the source require something different from what this site currently does, the source's terms prevail over anything said here.

Separately from the judgments, the compilation itself — the structured data, the entity pages, the summaries and the explanatory text — is the work of MY Case Law.

The data has limits, and they are published

This database begins in September 2014, covers the Federal Court, the Court of Appeal and the High Court only, holds the full written judgment for some but not all of its records, derives practice areas from catchwords in a way that is incomplete by construction, and offers no citator and no "cited by" function — nothing here indicates whether a decision has since been followed, distinguished, overruled or appealed. Those limits are set out in detail, with the reasons, on our disclaimer page, and they are part of these terms. An absence from this site is not evidence of an absence from Malaysian law.

Accuracy and availability

The site is provided as it is, without warranty that it is complete, current, error-free or continuously available. We compile from primary sources on a best-effort basis; cases are appealed and legislation is amended after pages are written. Our methodology explains how content is produced and where it is generated with AI assistance, and the corrections and data-removal policy is the route by which errors are fixed.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MY Case Law is not liable for any loss arising from reliance on this site's content or from its unavailability. Nothing published here substitutes for advice from a qualified Malaysian advocate and solicitor on a particular matter.

Advertising and external links

This site may carry advertising, which is how it stays free to read. Advertisers have no influence over what is published here, and the presence of an ad is not an endorsement of the advertiser by MY Case Law or of MY Case Law by the advertiser. Links to external sites — including eJudgment and Malaysian Legislation — lead to material we do not control. Our privacy policy covers the cookies involved.

Governing law and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. We may revise them; the current version always lives at this URL with an honest "Updated" date, and material changes will be visible here rather than announced nowhere.
